The Lightbringer of Sweden, la nueva promesa del metal sueco,: «nuestras canciones van al grano y no se pierden en estructuras complicadas»

The Lightbringer of Sweden han convertido su primer disco en el mejor ejemplo de metal clásico posible. Hablamos con Lars, guitarrista de la banda que nos cuenta cómo ha sido el proceso de grabación de un primer disco que le ha volado la cabeza a la mayor parte de los críticos.

– Vuestro disco ha sido criticado por la mayor parte de los medios especializados en heavy metal y cada crítica subraya la fuerza de al música y el respeto por el metal más clásico. ¿Fueron estos los cimientos sobre los que compusiste las canciones?

Las críticas han sido increíbles, estoy casi en shock por que todas son positivas. He compuesto las canciones siguiendo lo que me interesa, he vuelto a mis raíces y he escuchado a mis bandas favoritas (Accept, Edguy, Stratovarius, Gotthard y Primal Fear entre otras). He intentado encontrar qué es lo que más me gusta de lo que hacen y he tocado desde el corazón e intentado darle el sentimiento correcto.

No hay regrabaciones o intentos de grabar algo complicado, quería ir al grano.He aprendido tras años de composición que los riffs y las melodías no mejoran por más cambios que les hagas. En el 100 % de los casos, cuanto más te compliques, más probabilidades tienes de perderte y de arruinar tu canción.

– ¿Cómo y dónde has grabado el disco?

Cada uno en su casa y luego ha sido masterizado por Fredrik Nordström en Studio Fredman en Gotemburgo.

– ¿Cómo escribes una canción? ¿Primero la música o la letra?

Siempre escribo relatos y pequeñas novelas por lo que siempre tengo un montón de textos en los que encontrar algo interesante. Cuando compongo siempre parto de un riff e intento crear una intro, una estrofa y el posible estribillo. Luego elijo el texto intentando que encaje con la vibración del riff correspondiente. Cuando encuentro el texto correcto empiezo a ajustarlo para que encaje con la música. Lo habitual es que borre el 80 % del texto e incluso lo reciclo para otra canción.

– En estos tiempos de pandemia parece complicado hablar de giras, pero ¿has tenido alguna oferta para tocar en directo?

Sí, pero ahora mismo es complicado decir que hay algo definitivo.

– ¿Podrías elegir tres temas del disco para los que todavía no lo han escuchado?

«Fallen angels», «The beast inside of me» y «Shadows of the night». Creo que son las tres que mejor funcionan en Internet por lo que creo que serán las mejores para que las personas que nos escuchan por vez primera sepan qué hacemos.

– ¿Dónde crees que estará tu grupo en cinco años?

Me gustaría hacer una o dos giras y dos discos más.

– ¿Te gustaría tocar en España?

Sí, está entre los cinco países que más escucha nuestro disco.

– Thanks for answering this interview. Your album is being reviewed by most of the metal media and each and every comment underlines the strength of the music and the respect for the classic metal. Were these the foundations from where you built the songs?

Answer: Yes the reviews has been absolutely mind blowing, i’m almost in shock after all good reviews.

I have written the songs after what makes me interested, i has gone back to my roots and listen to many of my old favorites, Accept, Edguy, Stratovarius, Gotthard, Primal Fear and many more. And try to fint what they do that i love, and then just played from my heart, and try to find the right feeling

There is not much retakes and try to invent something complicated, i just wanted to keep it simple and raw. I think i have learned from the many years of songwriting that the riffs and the melodies don’t get better the more you change and plays them, 100% of the times, the feeling get lost and you ruind your own song.

– Where and how did you record the album?

Answer: The record is recorded in our homes, and put together in my studio.

The final mixing and mastering is done by Fredrik Nordström at Studio Fredman in Gothenburg.

– How do you write a song? First the music or the lyrics?

Answer: I always writing texts and small novels, so i always have a big pile of texts to dig into.

When i write a song i starts with a riff and trying to put together an intro, verse, and a refrain, and after that i starts to dig in the text to ser if there is anything that has the same wibe as the riffs, when i found the right text i starts to put them together and shorten the text and make it fit to the music, i think i normaly delete about 80% of the text to make it fit the music, sometimes i get another song from the text i did delet from the first song.

– In these pandemia times is quite difficult to talk about a tour but did you have any offer to play live?

Answer: There is some request, but as the time is now, there is nothing desided yet.

– Can you tell pick three songs of the album for those that haven’t heard you yet?

Answer:

The Beast Inside of me
Shadows of the Night

Thoes there songs are the songs that has been played the most, so i think thoes songs are the once to go to for new listeners.

– How do you see your band in 5 years time?

Answer: I want to at least make one or two tours, and two more Records.

– Would you like to play in Spain?

Answer: Yes i would, spain is in top 5 of countrys that listen to our music.
